Hearing protection is available based off of the hobby, job or environment the wearer is trying to interact with. It isn’t uncommon to carry multiple types of hearing protection on the go to get the best experience possible. Whether preventative or to help out severe hearing loss, hearing protection is available to help out in big and small doses.
At Sound Advice in Burbank, we’ve got a large selection of top-of-the-line hearing protection products for our patients. Regardless what product you’re looking for, you can trust you’ll find the perfect custom-fit protection for your specific needs at our office.

Custom earmolds and earplugs

Custom earmolds can either be soft, solid or spongy. With the most popular styles being full shell or half shell, they are naturally equipped to protect against mid-to-high level noise exposure. Individual needs will determine what type of earmold an audiologist recommends to their patient. With some having a built-in filtered attenuator, they have become popular with musicians. A filtered attenuator is necessary for clear verbal communication without compromising the hearing protection of a custom earmold.

Custom earplugs are a little different since they are a canal-only option. They are the more comfortable of the custom options and the right type will allow more sound to pass through. More lifestyle options are available with custom earplugs, especially for wearers who deal with water.

Earplugs and monitors for musicians

Musicians need to hear music clearly, so in the process of making great albums, they are exposed to higher than normal tones. With conventional earplugs blocking out a lot of necessary notes, musician’s earplugs were created to offer great protection with a balance. Sound levels are reduced up to 20dBs without distorting music, and modern designs have a deep fit to reduce occlusion.

In-ear musician monitors are used at concerts or other large settings where audio equipment is at its loudest. With the monitors in place, musicians can still perform in front of their fans, hearing the music clearly as it is played. These are available in custom and universal options, but the latter can produce a semi-fit with interchangeable foam or silicone tips.
